First "heavy-section" weld with the Miller 320i welding machine

This is a wonderful success.

The service is high-duty.

Here it is:

To get this 10mm leg-length ("z10") fillet weld, I set the welding machine to "naturally" give a 6mm length-length ("z6") single-run fillet weld. A "z6" fillet was seen as the root run. On the same setting, the second pass ran along the weld-toe intersecting the horizontal plate, while the third run aimed at the intersection of the weld to the vertical plate. Giving 10mm equal fillet leg lengths in both horizontal and vertical dimensions.
That run sequence being standard technique for a 3-run horizontal-vertical fillet weld.

An end-crater is seen at this stage, as knew I would wrap a longitudinal filler weld around the corner (near in photo), blending both welds to give a constant profile.

My welding machine is "basic" and this weld, if I may say so myself, calls upon knowledge and experience of fundamental welding conditions.
As follows:
this is in the spray transfer condition
(my transfer conditions webpages).
