Lake Erie frozen

These pictures were taken on 22nd January 2003. The temperatures are hovering around -10 to -12 Celsius and have been well below freezing for the last 10 days. The last picture shows an area which had frozen as smooth as glass. As I stood in the middle of this area and looked downwards through the few inches of ice I could see shoals of fish swimming around - nice.

Looking East to downtown

Looking North - walk across the ice and you'd arrive in Canada

Looking West

Ice to the horizon!

Nice guide for swimming distance (in summer!)

Someone's got to take photos!

Another nice atmostpheric shot to the horizon

You can see fish shoals under this (it's 4 to 6 inches thick)
